For decades, reality TV has made a habit of throwing relatively fit people into physical elimination matches for prizes. Starfield includes such a side attraction that may satisfy the ninja warrior inside. The side quest takes place in a frozen crater on a distant planet. It’s called the Red Mile, and if you’re looking to run it in Starfield, we have the location and some tips on how to survive.
The Red Mile isn’t unlike the Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, except without the hilarious commentary. Oh, and it also has monsters and deadly environmental conditions. You can actually die. Right, so it’s not quite like MXC, but making it to the end still rewards you with wonderful cash and special prizes. Woo!
What is the location of the Red Mile in Starfield?
To run the Red Mile in Starfield, open up your navigation menu and locate the Porrima star system. Look for the planet Porrima III, a frozen rock with twice the gravity of Earth. You can find the Red Mile icon fairly easily. Touch down and head inside the building. You can’t miss it.
How to run the Red Mile, tips on surviving
To start the quest, look for a woman named Mei Devine. She’s wearing a red and black dress in the gambling hall. Let her know you want to run and that you’re of sound mind, and she’ll saunter to a platform and announce that meat’s back on the menu. Once she introduces you to the patrons, a door to her left slides open. Enter it, go down the elevator, and begin your run. Best of luck.
Tips on how to survive the Red Mile
There are concerns to keep in mind when running the course. As mentioned, the planet itself is cold. Wear a spacesuit with Thermal protection if you have it. There are also beasts on the course called Red Mile Maulers that apparently can shoot grenades from their mouths. Yikes. The toughest beast I came across was level 14, so if you’re at least level 10 you should be fine. I suggest running past enemies rather than fighting. Some of them contain materials, but there are better prizes at stake. And did I mention they shoot grenades from their mouths? Try not to jump often. The planet has twice the normal gravity, so jumping could lead to fractures or contusions, making the challenge even harder.
Using AMP inhalers can help you in your run. They increase jump height (but don’t), as well as movement speed by 35%. They’re easy to craft and cheap to purchase. The course took me less than five minutes to complete, so I only needed to bring a few.
The goal is to reach a button at the center of a massive crater. Once there, press the button and turn heel. Half the run is now finished. If you’re not under attack, check around the button for some easy loot. Not every runner was as lucky as you, and you’ll find some corpses strewn around with weapons and ammo to pilfer.
Rewards for completing the mile
Once you complete your run, speak with Mei about your rewards. It seems Red Mile prizes randomize. In my first run, I got a rare Brute Force shotgun and 3,800 credits. My second run gifted me credits and an Old Earth Shotgun.
