At the end of the Eye of the Storm mission, you need to make a choice. If you join forces with UC SysDef, you take the final fight to the Crimson Pirates by assaulting their home base, the Key. But doing so will prevent you from ever attaining the weapon. To get the Unfair Advantage pistol in Starfield, choose to side with the Crimson Fleet.

Now that you’ve hoisted the colors, you must fight and win against UC SysDef. The battle eventually makes it to the Key, where you face off against Commander Ikande of the UC Vigilance. It’s a tough fight, make no mistake. When the battle is over you can dock with the Vigilance, bringing your new pirate buddies alongside for a… friendly chat.

Once you reach the bridge, you have a chance to speak with Ikande. He asks you why you betrayed him and the UC. The answer doesn’t matter; he hates either reason. Oh, and you’ve probably noticed the blaring alarm. So, Ikande has set the ship to self-destruct. If you’re confident in your persuasion skills, you can talk him out of the decision and get him to turn it off — but wait. Do not persuade Ikande to cancel the self-destruct: doing so will end with him imprisoned. Instead, choose the Attack option. The Unique Advantage is Ikande’s pistol, and you secure it by looting it off his body.

After killing Ikande, take the pistol off his corpse along with Command Code: Ikande. Next, take Command Code: Toft off Lt. Toft’s body. Use both keys on the nearby command console and turn off the self-destruct sequence. The Vigilance is yours! No, wait. Sorry, just the gun. Regardless, it’s a great weapon.

Unfair Advantage stats

The Unfair Advantage is a rare pistol in Starfield. It’s a Ballistic-type revolver with some impressive stats. The weapon also has a Radioactive modifier, allowing it to deal radioactive damage randomly to a target (causing demoralization). I’m not a huge fan of its Binary Trigger, so I’ll likely keep it around as a trophy. But it might be right up your alley.
