What is a cyberpsycho in Cyberpunk 2077 – Can you become one?

Aren't we all a little mad?

One of the collectible sidequests in Cyberpunk 2077 has you going up against ā€œcyberpsychosā€ or people experiencing ā€œcyberpsychosis.ā€ As the name implies, cyberpsychosis is a mental illness, but itā€™s one caused by external influence. In this case, it happens when someone modifies their body with too many cybernetic implants.

Not a whole lot is known about cyberpsychosis, and the questline that Regina Jones sends you through has her requesting that you take down cyberpsychos without killing them. This is because she hopes that more can be learned about the illness. What is known is that some people are more susceptible to it than others. Youā€™ll see some perfectly lucid individuals in the game who look more machine than human. Itā€™s believed that anyone with pre-existing mental conditions is more likely to go into cyberpychosis.

Can you become a cyberpsycho

I donā€™t know, how stable are you feeling? If youā€™re wondering if the player character can lose control and become a cyberpsycho if too many cybernetic upgrades are installed, the answer is no. The cybernetic upgrade system in Cyberpunk 2077 gives you a capacity limit on how much chrome you can slap on your body.

On the other hand, thereā€™s nothing preventing you from just going ham on everyone around you. Maybe you want to test out the new five-tier police system. Perhaps someone dented your fender, and itā€™s time to teach them a lesson. There might not be anything driving you to insanity, but there isnā€™t anything stopping you, either.

You can hear them, canā€™t you? The augments? All that power screwed into your bone structure, and youā€™re supposed to act like youā€™re normal? As if youā€™re the same as all those ā€œnormalā€ people who clutter up the sidewalks. Itā€™s unfair, isn’t it? Maybe let yourself slip into cyberpsychosis just to shake things up. Itā€™s the sane thing to do.
