How to Parry and Perfect Guard in Lies of P

When you successfully Parry in Lies of P, it actually triggers a Perfect Guard. To successfully parry you need to Block right before an enemy hits you. You can change the default Block button in the Settings but by default, it’s L1 on the PlayStation, Left Bumper on Xbox, and Shift via keyboard and mouse. If you pull it off, red and orange sparks will fly out from the point at which you did the Perfect Guard.

Of course, to pull this off consistently, you will have to learn each enemy’s unique attack pattern. Some harder enemies, especially bosses, can be much easier once you have mastered Parry and Perfect Guard. When an enemy begins glowing red, they are performing an attack that you cannot simply Block. However, you can perform a Parry and trigger a Perfect Guard to mitigate all damage from the attack, which will also Stagger them.

How to Fatal Attack after a Perfect Guard

If you have pulled off a Perfect Guard and Staggered your enemy, you can follow up with a Fatal Attack. To perform a Fatal Attack you need to execute a fully charged Charge Attack. To Perform a Charge Attack you need to hold down R2 on the PlayStation, Right Trigger on the Xbox, and Right Mouse Click via keyboard and mouse.

A fully charged Charge Attack on a Staggered enemy from Perfect Guard will initiate a Fatal Attack. This is the highest single-damage attack you can perform in Lies of P.

Once you master Perfect Guard and Fatal Attack, most encounters in Lies of P become much easier. Many enemies have unblockable attacks, so you’ll at the very least need to learn to Parry. Now that you actually know how to Parry in Lies of P you’re probably prepared to take on most boss encounters.
