Slowly but surely, Bungie has been returning select elements of Destiny 2‘s sunset expansion packs as new, refurbished offerings available via new game modes and progression elements. The legendary-tier Warden’s Law hand cannon, originally seen in the Forsaken DLC, is one of these items. Warden’s Law is particularly curious because it’s an entirely unique weapon: it fires two rounds at once, which no other hand cannon has ever done, and it fell victim to the first round of sunsetting back when Beyond Light first came out.
It is a tad strange that Bungie would drag its feet on reimplementing the weapon, then, but the good news is that players can finally get an up-to-date and modern version of Warden’s Law as of 2023. The weapon was reworked to fire a rapid two-round burst, like a Pulse Rifle, instead of its previous shotgun-adjacent functionality, but it’s still almost entirely unique in its niche.
How to get Warden’s Law in 2023?
Guardians will be thrilled to hear that not only is Warden’s Law fully up-to-date and meta-competitive in the year of Lightfall, but that it’s also freely farmable and relatively easily accessible. If you’re waiting to hear a “but,” though, you’re correct to do so because Warden’s Law is now officially a Nightfall reward.
The original version of Warden’s Law was an exclusive drop for the Warden of Nothing Nightfall, so it does make sense for Bungie to re-implement the weapon as a Nightfall drop in the first place. This does mean, however, that the hand cannon is on a weekly rotation that you’ll need to keep track of to know when to farm it out. Higher Nightfall difficulties have an increased chance to drop Warden’s Law, and if you play Grand Master Nightfalls, you could even snag a top-tier Adept version of the weapon, but it’s all RNG from that point onwards. At the very least, it is a good opportunity to stock up on Ascendant Shards while you’re at it, right?
