You know when your own PR is calling past games in your series “antiquated” (as in “antiquated character sprites used over the past 14 years”), it’s time for a change. Enter The King of Fighters XII for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which hits North America this Summer.
Published by Ignition Entertainment and developed by SNK Playmore, The King of Fighters XII marks the first true next-gen title in the series, and features high-resolution, 100% hand-drawn sprites. The results? It’s hot. Really hot.
Ignition tells us that if you pick up The King of Fighters ’98: Ultimate Match for the PlayStation 2, you’ll get a sneak peak at XII. Apparently it’s game footage and “content” (whatever that means) on each disc. That’s ships to stores today, so if anyone picks it up, let us know how The King of Fighters XII is looking in action.
The King of Fighters XII is set for a July release for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
