How to defeat True Soul Gut

After you pass the guards at the front of the Shattered Sanctum, True Soul Gut is right in front of you, having an argument on an elevated wooden stage. Speak to her, and first select “I’m not letting you burn me for life on a whim.” She’ll probe into your mind, and you’ll realize she also has a parasite within her. Next, choose to look into her mind. Select the first option after you’ve peered into her thoughts. You’ll make it seem like you’re helping each other out as she leaves the area to go to her room. She’ll be all alone, and no guards will be able to assist. Follow her (look at the map if you lose the True Soul Gut) and close the door behind you.

Now, get Astarion to set up a Sneak Attack (Melee) and strike from behind. You may need to sneak behind her to get it to work. This attack can do a lot of damage. You can then follow it up with a normal attack and then a vampiric bite from Asterion. These moves alone were enough for me to take out True Soul Gut before she screams for guards. However, she might call out her minions if you can’t take away enough HP from her.

Tips for taking out the minions

If this occurs, utilize some of your party’s best moves like Shadowheart‘s Inflict Wounds or a mage’s Magic Missile. She doesn’t have much HP, so you should have her handled easily. Her minions will begin to emerge from outside the room, but you have a turn all to yourself with her. After taking her out, go outside of the room and remove the war drum first. It’s on your character’s left in a hallway. Look around for it.

You’ll see them swarm up the steps. Try to use AoE (Area of Effect) attacks to deal damage to multiple foes at once. For example, a mage can cast Thunderwave for 2-16 damage each. If your foes bunch around you, make sure to not move out of their sight; they can attack you while you make a movement. You should have True Soul Gut defeated quickly. Next, you should take on Dror Ragzlin, but be warned, he’s much tougher.
