Ikatak Shrine location and solution for Tears of the Kingdom (Totk)

Ikatak Shrine is one of the few shrine quests in Tears of the Kingdom. If you’re in the process of farming shrines to upgrade your hearts and stamina, these shrine quests tend to make for a welcome break from the traditional ones. Ikatak Shrine’s quest is “The Gisa Crater Crystal,” and it requires you to return the shrine crystal to the start point so the entrance to Ikatak can open.

As a shrine quest, it’s difficult to spot Ikatak from afar, so we’ll cover how to find the shrine first. Below that, we’ve covered everything you need to know to complete The Gisa Crater Crystal quest for Ikatak shrine.

How to find Ikatak Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom

Ikatak Shrine is located in the Tabantha Frontier region of Hyrule, which is all the way to the west of the map. The shrine is just south of Rito Village, so Gatakis Shrine may be the closest fast travel point for those who have unlocked it. Alternatively, most players should have unlocked Rospro Pass Skyview Tower north of the village, which is convenient to use so that you can glide to Ikatak.

As it’s a shrine quest, the shrine isn’t lit up by the normal green rings, so it’s difficult to spot from the sky. Head south from Rito Village or Rospro Pass Tower until you reach the point shown on the map above, south of Cuho Mountain and west of Nero Hill.

How to complete Ikatak Shrine and The Gisa Crater Crystal quest

When you arrive at Ikatak Shrine and activate it, you will be tasked with the shrine quest “The Gisa Crater Crystal.” This is one of the shorter shrine quests in Tears of the Kingdom, but that doesn’t make it any less puzzling.

You need to retrieve the shrine crystal from Gisa Crater, which is south of the Ikatak Shrine start point. Head there and hop down into the crater. See the picture above of the crater entrance to get an idea of what to look for.

Inside the crater, you should see the crystal, which is glowing green. On the opposite side of the cavern to the crystal are some rockets. The rockets are the key to getting the crystal out of the crater. Pick up the two rockets and take them to the center of the crater beneath the opening in the ceiling. Then, pick up the crystal and take it to the same spot.

The spot you’re looking for is raised, kind of like a launchpad. To get the crystal out of the crater, you will need to use the rockets, but the gap in the ceiling above is quite narrow. Therefore, you need to be accurate with the rocket placement to allow the crystal shuttle to fly straight.

Place the crystal in the very center of the platform, standing upright. Then, use Ultrahand to attach a rocket to one side of it. The second rocket is where you need to be accurate. Attach the second rocket to the exact opposite side of the first, or at least as close as you can get. See the picture above to get an idea of how your crystal shuttle should look on the launchpad.

When you’re ready, strike one of the rockets with a weapon to initiate the blast off. If you’ve placed everything correctly, the crystal should fly out of the crater and land a little ways from the crater entrance. Once the crystal shuttle is clear of the crater, use Ascend to get yourself out.

Once you’re topside, use the shining green line to find your way to the crystal, pick it up, and take it to the start of Ikatak Shrine. Place the crystal down at the entrance, and the shrine quest will be complete. However, that’s not everything, you still need to complete the actual shrine.

After the brief cutscene, enter the shrine and head to the end to collect your Light of Blessing and complete the shrine. On the way to the exit is the Ikatak Shrine chest. Open this to receive a Big Battery, which you’ll find useful with your future Hyrule inventions.

That’s it! Ikatak Shrine and The Gisa Crater Crystal quest are complete.
