How to create a seasonal character in Diablo 4

It’s time to step outside of the Eternal Realm

Diablo 4 season 1, Season of the Malignant, has officially begun. As is tradition with action RPGs, you will need to create a new seasonal character with each new season. This is a requirement if you want to experience all the new features the season has to offer, including the new quests, Malignant Hearts, and more.

Unfortunately, it’s a little confusing how exactly you make sure your new character is a seasonal one. Keep reading to learn how to create a seasonal character in Diablo 4.

How to create a seasonal character in Diablo 4

Once you’ve logged into Diablo 4, you will want to create a new character. Don’t click Start Game, as that will log you in to your currently selected character. Instead, click the Create New Character button at the top of your character list.

You’ll now be on the screen where you choose from the five available classes. At first, this can feel a bit worrisome if you expect to choose the seasonal server. However, this is perfectly normal. You don’t actually confirm your character as a seasonal one until the end of character creation.

Customize the character to your liking and click the Next button.

How to skip the campaign in Diablo 4 Season 1

On the final customization screen, you will see the season info for Season of the Malignant in the top left. You will also have the ability to enable two possible gameplay options: Hardcore and Skip Campaign.

Unless you’re looking to create a Hardcore character, make sure you do not select that option. If you’ve already completed the campaign on any character—be it a Seasonal or Eternal Realm character—you will have the option to Skip Campaign. Make sure this is checked and you will enter the game in Kyovashad with the campaign completed.

Once you click Start Game, a final screen will pop up asking if you want to create the character on the Seasonal Realm or Eternal Realm. To finish creating a seasonal character in Diablo 4, simply choose the Seasonal Realm option on the left and click continue.

You have officially created a seasonal character and can start to explore all the new content Diablo 4 has to offer! Also, be sure to grab the quest from the NPC next to you titled “Burning from Within”. This is the official start of the seasonal quest line!
