Diablo 4 Legion Events guide & rewards explained

Conquer The Gathering Legions for big rewards

Recommended Videos

In between farming dungeons and Helltide Events in Diablo 4, you may find yourself stumbling upon Legion Events. These events—also known as The Gathering Legions event—can yield numerous rewards for completing them. Unlike World Bosses which take six hours to spawn, Legion Events take place every thirty minutes and can be completed very quickly.

In this Diablo 4 Legion Events guide, we will explain how to successfully complete the event and reap the rewards for doing so.

How to prepare for Legion Events in Diablo 4

First, you want to scope out where the next event is spawning. Five minutes before spawning, a marker will be placed on your world map indicating the actual location. As of now these Legion Events can spawn in one of six locations:

  • Kor Dragan in Fractured Peaks
  • Carrowcrest Ruins in Scosglen
  • Haunted Wreckage in Dry Steppes
  • Dilapidated Aqueducts in Kehjistan
  • Norgoi Vigil in Hawezar
  • Crusader’s Monument in Hawezar

Once you find the spawn location, I recommend heading to the marker on your map before it actually spawns. There you will find a campfire that you can interact with, granting you a stackable buff that increases your experience gain. This buff stacks up to 15 times, granting a 15% experience buff. It can take a couple of minutes to fully stack up this buff, so make sure you get there with enough time before the event starts.

The Legion Events in Diablo 4 are pretty fast paced. It’s a multiplayer feature, so you will have other players running around completing objectives as well. Don’t worry, they are universal. As long as you are in the area when someone completes an objective you will get credit for it.

Typically your objectives for this event are pretty straight forward. A wave of Legion enemies will spawn at the start that you must kill in time to proceed to the next objective. From here you will run around the area slaying more waves of Legion troops while occasionally encountering Servant of Hell mini-bosses. Although it’s not a requirement, you want to be sure to kill these mini-bosses. If you can take down all three of the Servants of Hell before the event ends, you will receive a mastery bonus. After the third wave of enemies, a final Overlord boss will spawn and must be defeated to complete the event.

Every stage of the Legion Event is on a timer, so make sure you are quick with each objective. They currently follow this timeline:

  1. First wave of Legion enemies — 2 minutes
  2. First Servant of Hell spawns — 2 minutes
  3. Second wave of Legion enemies — 1 minute 45 seconds
  4. Second Servant of Hell spawns — 1 minute
  5. Third wave of Legion enemies — 1 minute 30 seconds
  6. Third Servant of Hell spawns — 45 seconds
  7. Overlord boss spawns — 2 minutes

The Overlord boss will be one of several potential bosses typically encountered in Side Dungeons. The boss will have increased health and deal more damage compared to their weaker counterpart. Even still, each Legion Event I have been to resulted in the Overlord boss dying very quickly with everyone working together to take it down.

After you successfully defeat the Overlord boss, you will finally get your bounty of rewards for completing the Legion event.

Rewards are random but typically include Legendary items, Rare and Magic items to salvage, gold, and some Murmuring Obols. At this time it does not look like you can receive Unique items for participating in Legion events.

As you can see, the rewards are definitely not as good as Helltide event rewards. However, this event is very quick and constantly spawning. Therefore, it can still be a good use of your time to mix these into your farming rotation while waiting for the next World Boss or Helltide.
