Leap from you steed and rain down icy shards
Every class in Diablo 4 has its own unique mount skill that you automatically unlock upon receiving your mount. All of these skills dismount you from your steed while also inflicting Area of Effect damage to nearby enemies. Originally, Freezing Wake was a pretty poor mount skill compared to the other classes. But with Diablo 4 patch 1.03, Freezing Wake has been a bit reworked and therefore buffed.
We’ve put together a brief guide that explains the new Freezing Wake Sorcerer dismount skill in Diablo 4 with patch 1.03.
Freezing Wake Sorcerer dismount skill in Diablo 4 explained
To better understand the Freezing Wake Sorcerer dismount skill, let’s first review its in-game tooltip.
“Crystallize into a rushing wisp of ice, dealing damage to and Freezing enemies in your path for ~2 seconds.”
As with all skills in Diablo 4, the actual damage amount and Freezing duration will depend on your stats and gear. What this means is when you perform your Freezing Wake dismount skill, you will essentially explode in a frost nova dealing AoE damage and also freezing them for a few seconds.
The Freezing part of this skill has always been the strong part. However, the damage was previously lacking. In patch 1.03, the base damage of Freezing Wake has increased from 60% to 110%. There are no changes to the Stun duration from inflicting Freezing, but even at two seconds it’s very strong.
Now that we’ve explained how the Freezing Wake Sorcerer dismount skill in Diablo 4 works, you can probably see why it’s one of the more popular class dismount skills. You will still need to complete the quest Donan’s Favor to unlock your mount and gain access to this skill.
