Belphegor will be belph-no-more

Some Hunts are tied to quests. Other Final Fantasy XVI Hunts offer precious rewards. And some Hunts in Final Fantasy XVI, like Belphegor, you just stumble across. At least, that was my situation.

Belphegor is a B-rank Hunt in Final Fantasy XVI, offering a decent bounty and some ability points. While not tied immediately to any major side quest, it’s still worth taking down if you say, stumble across it while trying to find a different Hunt target in Final Fantasy XVI. Theoretically speaking, of course.

Belphegor location & directions in Final Fantasy XVI (FF16)

If you’re looking to find Belphegor, you’ll catch it residing over a cliff in eastern Rosaria. It’s not too far from the entrance to Eastpool, and you can make a pretty easy beeline from the Obelisk through the Broken Hilt and straight to its cliffside perch.

Once there, you’ll initiate the intro sequence and be thrust into combat with the verdant wyvern.

Final Fantasy XVI (FF16) Belphegor Hunt tips & tricks

If you’ve fought a wyvern or lesser dragon in Final Fantasy XVI, you’ve seen Belphegor’s moves before. I didn’t see it toss out too many variations on the moves either. Belphegor will thrash around with the familiar double-strike claw attacks and fireballs, at least at first.

Eventually, Belphegor will add a slight variation to its moves. It will gust up some wind, followed by a dive attack, a move that reminded me of the Griffin Hunt target Dozmare. As with the Griffin, wait for Clive to recover from the gust of wind and dodge or counter. Keep calm and slash away, and Belphegor won’t be long for this world.

Taking down the dragon nets you some Dragon Talons as reward, which are handy for crafting. Belphegor is not the highest-value Hunt target on the Final Fantasy XVI Hunt board, but it doesn’t need to be. Whether you’re just looking for board completion or just in need of some talons, it’s worth stopping by on any Rosarian outing to take down the wyvern.
