Equip Timely Accessories for easier combat

Final Fantasy XVI has a wealth of customization options in the game. As such, it’s easy to overlook critical components to upgrade and improve Clive. One aspect that many players will find incredibly useful is Timely Accessories.

These items, which all have “Timely” in the name, can provide massive quality of life improvements to the game and aid players who may otherwise have difficulty with battles. However, that’s only if you know which ones to choose and how to equip them for use. We’ve covered everything you need to know about using Timely Accessories in Final Fantasy XVI below.

How to choose accessories in Final Fantasy XVI

Unlike other gear that unlocks as you play through the story and side quests of Final Fantasy XVI, Timely Accessories are available from the very beginning of the game. Each accessory has a different use that can aid players in battle. If there’s an aspect of battles that you find difficult or just don’t want to deal with, there may be a Timely Accessory for you.

To equip Timely Accessories, open the pause menu and use “R2” or “L2” to navigate to the “Gear & Eikons” tab. The top level of the gear section is your weapon and armor options, while the bottom section is jewelry/accessories. Open one of the jewelry slots to find the Timely rings.

At the start of the game, you will have four Timely rings. But after a few hours of playtime, you will unlock the fifth and final ring, the “Ring of Timely Assistance.” Select the ring you want to equip, and you should see an icon light up in the gear menu. See the screenshot above for how the rings look on the gear screen.

Since you can only equip three accessories, you can’t use all of the Timely rings at the same time. Double check which Timely rings you choose, as some of them serve similar functions. You also won’t be able to equip necklaces or rings that provide other types of battle bonuses in game. However, if you want to automate Torgal’s actions, have Clive evade attacks on his own, or have him automatically heal himself, then you’re probably not going to miss the boosts other items may provide.

Once you’ve equipped your rings of choice, go forth and enjoy everything Final Fantasy XVI has to offer!
