Getting the band back together

Opening up all the Great Fairy Fountains inĀ The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the KingdomĀ is a very helpful endeavor. Not only does it take you around Hyrule, and net you a decent amount of rupees for completing the task. But it also lets you start upgrading Link’s armor all the way to its maximum potential.

While armor can have varying degrees of damage protection, you can bump those numbers up at a Great Fairy Fountain. The ability to do so increases with each Great Fairy you bring out of her bud, up toĀ fourĀ in total. Upgrading armor all the way isn’t just good for the numbers, but also for unlocking extra effects you can pull out from your individual armor pieces or sets.

The first Great Fairy Fountain you’ll unlock will be near the Woodland Stable, as part of the side adventure Serenade to a Great Fairy. That side adventure is part of the Lucky Clover Gazette quest line, Potential Princess Sightings. Make sure to start out there! But also, you don’t need to finish the Lucky Clover Gazette quests to head to the other Great Fairies.

Through this quest, you’ll meet the Stable Trotters, musicians bent on bringing back the fairies through their music. Once you’ve unleashed the first Great Fairy with their help, they will now appear at three other stables, near three other Great Fairy Fountains marked on your map.

Head to these locationsĀ in any orderĀ and you can start to knock them off your to-do list. Here’s the full run-down of every quest required to unlock all four Great Fairy Fountains, as well as related required quests.
