Livin’ in a Box
Metal Gear fans went into overdrive during Wednesday’s PlayStation showcase, when it was revealed that not only was the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake a very real thing, but also that they’d be receiving a new opportunity to buy the old Metal Gear games for the 200th time via the all-new, all-old, Master Collection.
While the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 announcement included Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and the original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, some mystery titles were also teased. However, thanks to a new listing on PlayStation Store itself, we now know that these titles are Hideo Kojima’s original MSX classics Metal Gear and Metal Gear II: Solid Snake.
The set promises “classic versions” of all included titles, complete with additions such as the MGS: VR Missions/Special Missions, and the HD editions of MGS 2 and MGS 3. The listing also notes that some small edits will, unfortunately, be made or copyrighted content. This likely refers to some of the stock footage used in cutscenes throughout the Metal Gear Solid series. “Regional versions” of each game will also be available as alternate downloads ā suggesting the addition of localized voice tracks and text.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 will launch this fall on the “lastest platforms”. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is currently in development for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X.
