Utsushok Shrine location and solution for Tears of the Kingdom

It’s just golf with extra steps

Recommended Videos

Utsushok Shrine is a puzzle shrine in Tears of the Kingdom that essentially boils down to one thing, golf. You have balls, holes, and different ways of hitting said balls into said holes. That doesn’t mean it’s not tough to figure out, though.

As with any other puzzle shrine, there are some Hylian twists along the way. We’ll cover everything you need to know to complete Utsushok Shrine below, but first, let’s take a look at where to find it.

How to find Utsushok Shrine inĀ Tears of the Kingdom

Utsushok Shrine is located in the Faron Grasslands region of Hyrule. If you have Highland Stable on your map, you can find the shrine just slightly to the northeast of it.

Otherwise, your best bet is to head directly south from the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower to find the shrine in between Fural Plain and Guchini Plain. Check the screenshot above for the exact location of Utsushok Shrine on the map.

How to complete Utsushok Shrine

When you enter Utsushok Shrine, you’ll be immediately greeted by a locked gate. To unlock the gate, you’ll need to put the ball on the right of the shrine into the hole across the gap. It’s too far to use Ultrahand to just place the ball there, and the rail is on a slight incline, so the ball will slide back without enough momentum.

To get the ball across, you’ll need to use Ultrahand on the giant paddle. Lift it up as high as you can and then release it (screenshot above for reference). The paddle will hit the ball across the rails and into the hole which opens the door. This is essentially what the rest of the shrine is about, but with some added twists.

Puzzle 2

The second challenge is where the difficulty increases. You’ll notice that the incline on this rail is much steeper. Just dropping the paddle won’t be enough to give the ball the right momentum this time. You’ll need to add some weight behind it, kind of like using a swinging hammer instead of a paddle.

On the right side of the entrance is a stone block. Use Ultrahand to pick it up and attach it to the back of the paddle, just like in the picture above. This will cause the paddle to drop much quicker, in turn hitting the ball hard enough to get it up the hill. The most important part of placing the stone on the paddle is to make sure it is high enough. Too low, and the stone will brush the ground, slowing the whole thing down.

How to finish Utsushok Shrine

In the final room, there’s a combo challenge. First, you need to send the ball into the hole like you did in the previous two rooms. Take the double plate from the floor and attach it to the paddle vertically to extend it down towards the ground. This will allow the paddle to reach the ball in order to hit it.

Again, be careful not to place the plate too low, or it will hit the ground. Similarly, too high, and it will miss the ball completely.

Once the ball has activated the hole, a door will open, releasing a mine cart. Let the mine cart fall down to the lower rail, and prepare to rearrange the paddle afterwards. Instead of vertically, you now need to uncouple it and rotate it so it’s connected to the paddle horizontally. It should make an L shape like in the picture above.

Hop into the mine cart and then lift and drop the paddle using Ultrahand to send it to the end. However, don’t miss the chest sitting above and to the left of the track!

If you’re quick, the chest can be retrieved on the way to the end. Prepare Ultrahand as soon as you hit the mine cart, line it up so that the crosshairs lock onto the chest as you pass it, and press “A” when it briefly turns green. This will let you take it with you to the end.

It’s not the end of the world if you miss it. The mine cart will roll slowly back to the start so you can get the chest on the way back at a much slower speed. Open it up, and you’ll be rewarded with a Sneaky Elixir.

That’s it! Congratulations on completing Utsushok Shrine!
