I’m on a boat
Early on inĀ Octopath Traveler 2, you’ll need to hire boats and captains to ferry you around to different locales. But eventually, you’ll want to explore the open ocean. Yes, you’ll be able to get your own boat in Octopath Traveler 2.
Getting a ship of your own isn’t easy. But doing so won’t just open up a new mode of travel, but also open up some new areas to explore, and potential rewards for daring adventurers willing to brave the danger.
Where to buy a boat inĀ Octopath Traveler 2
To start, you’ll need to haveĀ PartitioĀ in your party, and you’ll need to have unlocked his “The Scent of Commerce” sidequests. These are side-ventures that see Partitio assisting or investing in different situations around the world ofĀ Octopath Traveler 2. Once you’ve got him, you want to head over to Toto’haha, the island where you first recruit Ochette.
Rather than heading south towards Beasting Village, you’ll want to head east, towards coastal city and docks there. An icon will help guide you along. After a cutscene, Partitio will stumble onto a shipwright who won’t sell her ship for any less than 100,000 leaves.
Once you’ve got the cash scrounged together, head back to Terry and use Partitio’s Daytime Path Action to purchase the Unfinished Vessel. Terry will be shocked, but after a sequence of story scenes, you’ll have yourself one fine seaworthy vessel.
Can you name the boat inĀ Octopath Traveler 2?
Once the ship is yours, you’re given the option of painting it several different colors like black or blue, and adorning its sails with symbols, like an octopus or sun. Those options are available for customizing your boat, but I’m afraid you’ve got no choice in the matter when it comes to the name.
Partitio will dub the new ship the Grand Terry, in honor of its shipwright. It’s for a very sentimental and moving reason, so I guess we can let the lack of input slide this once.
From there, you can set off. But a word of warning: depending on when you buy this boat, you may be significantlyĀ under-leveledĀ for what awaits in the wide, open ocean. Just to the west of the bay are some high-level areas and enemies, and wiping out at sea is a game over. We highly recommend at least docking and saving first before setting off on any new journeys.
