Look for the book
Octopath Traveler 2 is a long game. Just recruiting all eight characters takes a double-digit number of hours, let alone exploring every nook and cranny of Solistia. I don’t blame you for wanting to ensure you keep your progress intact.
Fortunately, saving your game is easy in Octopath Traveler 2. In fact, the game will naturally autosave when you transition between many areas, so the chance you’ll wholesale lose an hour of progress is slim. That said, if you want to manually save your game, here’s what you need to do.
Save points look like this
To save, simply look for these pillars with books atop them. You’ll see a quill icon hovering over these, indicating they should be interacted with. You’ll be immediately prompted to save your game upon examination, so simply confirm that you want to overwrite your file. That’s it!
Save points are typically found in every town and most overworld areas. In dungeons, a save point generally indicates that a boss encounter is waiting for you ahead. In these situations, make sure to top off your health so you don’t start the battle from behind.
Check your minimap too
In case you want to save your game fast, your minimap can help. That quill icon that appears above savepoints will also show up as an icon relative to your rotation. Keep traveling towards it and you’ll inevitably find a save point.
Save points are plentiful in Octopath Traveler 2, so take every opportunity you get to record your progress!
