How to get Sun Stones in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

You might need to hunt for these

Sun Stones don’t come easy in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Although there are a few sure things, you won’t be farming them en masse or buying them directly from a Delibird Presents shop. Here’s where to find them.

What do Sun Stones do in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

Sun Stones are once again used for evolving Pokemon. All you need to do is have someone who can evolve via a Sun Stone, select the item from your bag, and select that Pokemon.

Here is the full list of Generation 9 Sun Stone evolutions:

  • Petilil -> Lilligant
  • Sunkern -> Sunflora

You can find more Sun Stones in the overworld

Sun Stones can be randomly located through Asado Desert sparkly drops on the ground.

A fixed location can also be found in West Province (Area One) in the location in the gallery above. Note that it’s on a shelf near the Pokecenter in the region.

You can get them from the auction house in Porto Marinada

The Porto Marinada auction house has a large pool of items that can show up on a rotating daily basis: and that includes Sun Stones.

If you want to check in daily for fun the auction house is an option, but like randomly farming sparkles, it isn’t recommended.

You can get another through playing the Sunflora hide and seek minigame again

After finishing out the Artazon gym, head back to the pen where the Sunflora are located and run the gym test minigame again. You’ll can acquire a Sun Stone (and a Leaf Stone) for your efforts.

If you need more information on the Artazon Gym (including a guide on the initial hide and seek minigame), you can find it here. The gym test process (fighting Sunflora) could yield Sun Stone drops too. It’s fitting, given how Sunflora is one of the only beneficiaries.
