How to evolve Scyther in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

It’s the same classic process, but a different shop for the Metal Coat

Scyther is not just a classic first generation Pokemon: it’s also a memorable evolution in the form of Scizor. Well, the duo is back for generation nine, and you can follow this quick and easy guide if you want both of them.

Step 1: Get a Scyther

Obviously, you’ll want a Scyther first. Scyther is a very common Pokemon, found in many regions in both games. You can see all of the regions they’re available in the image above.

We found plentiful amounts of Scyther in nearly every portion of the above coverage area.

Step 2: Where to find a Metal Coat in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

You’ll find Levincia on the east of the Paldea map: and the Delibird Presents shop you need is on the north side of the city.

Just head there, then select “battle items” in the shop menu, then buy the Metal Coat. Equip it on the Scyther you want to evolve as a held item.

Step 3: Trade your Scyther with the Metal Coat equipped to get a Scizor

After doing that, all you need to do is trade off your Scyther! It’ll evolve into a Scizor if you followed the above steps. Either do it via friends and family, or get involved in a reputable online trade ring.

Just get your Scizor back and you’re good to go!
