Rabbid Rosalina

New Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope dev comments seemingly confirm a lack of non-Rabbid Rosalina

You get the Rabbid one I guess

Rabbid Rosalina is in for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, but the “real” Rosalina likely isn’t, according to a new developer interview.

Producer Xavier Manzanares spoke to Nintendo Everything about the game, and dropped at least one confirmation bomb on us: that Yoshi was 100% out for Sparks of Hope. Manzanares posits: “When we started to think about the team and the heroes, we didnā€™t want to go for, ā€˜Okay, we did it before, so we have to do the same thing againā€™ and trying to evolve what we had in Kingdom Battle. So itā€™s true as well for the heroes.”

Instead, they “decided early” to adopt the framework of nine heroes. Since the game is “not a direct sequel,” they had a bit of leeway here, and chose characters based on archetypes, so that they could balance the gameplay around them. “Edge,” the game’s big original character, was born out of this concept, as were Rabbid Rosalina and Bowser. Manzanares says the reaction to Rabbid Rosalina has made the team “super happy,” and refrains from confirming a “real” version of her (but does reconfirm Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Luigi, and Rabbid Peach).

Of course, there’s still a chance that Rosalina could appear as an unlockable character, and thatĀ Sparks of Hope has some tricks (or DLC) up its sleeve. But for now, I wouldn’t count on it, as the current confirmed roster is looking pretty full.

Here’s a confirmation of all the Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope characters so far:

  • Mario
  • Rabbid Mario
  • Luigi
  • Rabbid Luigi
  • Peach
  • Rabbid Peach
  • Rabbid Rosalina
  • Bowser
  • Edge (newcomer/original character)
