With plenty more projects on the way
In a new interview with 4Gamer (translated by Gematsu), FromSoftware president and game director Hidetaka Miyazaki said that the studio’s next game has entered the “final stages” of development, and he’s “already working on [his] next title as a director.”
With respect to the almost-finished game, our best guess is a new Armored Core. In January, details about an unannounced Armored Core game reportedly leaked out of a consumer survey, including images that were all scuffed up but looked legit.
It’s been a looong wait for Armored Core fans, and expectations are high.
What’s next for Miyazaki
Miyazaki also gave a juicy quote about his vision for the future: “In the mid-to-long term, I would like to work on a more abstract fantasy than anything we’ve done in the past.”
On the company’s website, FromSoftware says it is “looking for development staff to play a central role in several new projects,” with positions currently open in design, programming, production, and other departments. “Join us for the next chapter.”
As for the more distant future of FromSoftware, Miyazaki told 4Gamer that the team is “developing several titles by directors other than myself in addition to the title that I’m directing, but we’re not at the stage where I can share any details yet.”
More Elden Ring updates are coming
Well, what about Elden Ring? It’s going to continue to sell tremendously well and capture players’ attention for years to come. Even if it never gets substantial DLC ā which many of us are expecting, and craving ā it really hit the mark. There’s nothing concrete to share yet, but Miyazaki did confirm they’re “going to continue releasing updates for Elden Ring.”
As much as we’ve come to expect satisfying action-RPGs with immersive worlds, I feel like the formula hasn’t become stagnant; even with familiar themes and gameplay, there’s always something fresh to latch onto. If FromSoft can keep its hot streak going while also branching out with up-and-coming directors, this ride may never end.
One of our favorite game studios is just out here killing it. You love to see it.
