Fable II has received its first official review — from none other than its creator, Peter Molyneux. Awarding his game a nine out of ten, the Hypemaster General has praised the action RPG sequel by calling it the most complete game he’s ever worked on. Peter Molyneux is a Lionhead fanboy, confirmed.
“Black & White, The Movies, Dungeon Keeper, pretty much every game I’ve ever done has had interesting features thrown in to the pot without worrying what the flavor was like,” explained the excitable game designer, stating that Fable II was not like his prior work. “I’d rate it a 9 out of 10 … It’s the best, most complete game I’ve ever worked on. The look is perfect, the interface is fantastic. It’s a role-playing game, but where are all the f**king icons? Aren’t you supposed to be cluttering the screen up with mini-maps and the like? Not us.
“RPGs are one of the most complex game types there are,” he added. “But for me, the idea of being who I want to be and my character being different to yours, well, I think is one of the coolest genres of game.”
You have to love the man’s enthusiasm, even if he promised he wouldn’t hype a game to astronomical levels after the way he talked up the original Fable. As with all of Molyneux’s creations, there is potential for a great experience with Fable II, but one is always advised to take Peter’s excitable promises with just a little pinch of salt.
