Sliding TV retro game room

This retro game room with a sliding TV and hidden CRT is extremely good

Neat in more ways than one

Twitter showed me something good today. Something *extremely good*, for once. It’s a game room with a sliding TV that can neatly move aside to reveal a hidden CRT. The photo immediately captured my interest. “Hold on. You can… you can do that?”

This neat gaming setup made the rounds yesterday with a tweet from @RealJezebelley, and today, its owner stepped forward after seeing the photo pop up in their feed.

Graciously, @Willux22 answered some questions about the setup in follow-up tweets.

Responding to concerns about the CRT TV potentially getting too hot with limited space and ventilation, they explained that the wall is “open in the back,” and the opening leads to a “mechanical room” with “a lot of cables.” So, there’s breathing room.

Someone else wondered about the beastly upright PS5 and whether it ever tumbles.

“I’m not playing on my CRT that often and when I do, I’m very careful. I’m always rolling it slowly because the cables get caught on the rack sometimes.”

Another game room pro tip

As for the Wii/Wii U sensor bar resting on the top of the modern television, it’s secured with “putty adhesive.” I could’ve benefitted from this knowledge a long time ago!

I know that the clever sliding TV is the star of the show here, but I also appreciate how tidy this game room is — the many consoles are all lined up, and the game boxes and cartridges look so professional. Clearly, a lot of thought and care went into this room.

Anyone else have game room envy?
