It’s a revival of the cross-generational JoJo‘s fighter
An older anime fighter is getting a refresh for the modern age with JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Battle R. Announced during today’s State of Play, this updated version revives the PlayStation 3 era JoJo‘s fighter, with some new mechanics in tow.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R is a revamped version of the original All Star Battle, which debuted on the PlayStation 3 in 2013. It has a 3D art style and utilizes the same style as Hirohiko Araki’s from the JoJo’s manga.
Fighters include the earliest fighters, like Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando, up to modern entries like Jolyne Cujoh. Yes, you can finally pit generations of JoJo‘s characters against each other.
With the re-release, Bandai Namco and CyberConect2 Co. say the fight system has been completely revamped. Tools like hit stops and jump dashes should all change up the tempo. There are also some all-new battles to play out, and a bunch of collectible and customizable cosmetics.
All Star Battle is a deep but welcome cut into the annals of fighting game history. The JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure fighting games have had a bit of a following in niche corners of the fighting game scene, and seeing them get a fancy new version of All Star Battle is rad.
Plus, with the recent release of Stone Ocean onto Netflix, the time seems right to kick up some JoJo’s fanfare. After watching some Stone Ocean myself, I’m interested in any fighting game with Jolyne and the crew. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R is coming to PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, and PC this fall.
