Mina the Hollower will feature guest tracks from composer Yuzo Koshiro

The Streets of Rage composer will lend his talents to Yacht Club’s next project

Yacht Club Games recently announced Mina the Hollower, their next game after years of Shovel Knight development. Today, the studio confirms that it’s also bringing on legendary composer Yuzo Koshiro for some tunes.

Koshiro has worked on game soundtracks for decades, with some impressive credits on his resume. His work stretches across Streets of Rage, ActRaiser, Super Smash Bros., Etrian Odyssey, and more. Koshiro will contribute two guest tracks for Mina the Hollower. Yacht Club extended a thanks to Brave Wave for helping set up the collaboration.

Shown during February’s Yacht Club Games showcase, Mina the Hollower is the next project from the Shovel Knight creator. It’s got a distinctly Game Boy-era feel to it, starring a mouse with a whip and weapons doing battle against some big enemies. It’s a little bit of Castlevania, mixed with Link’s Awakening or the Oracle games.

Yacht Club followed the reveal up with a Kickstarter campaign, which still has a few hours to go as of this writing and has already blown well past its initial goal. Mina the Hollower has accumulated over $1 million on Kickstarter as of this writing, with over 18,000 backers.

With a legendary composer on deck and a bunch of funding, it seems like the odds are in Mina the Hollower‘s favor. It’s still in development and in a campaign, but it’ll be interesting to see where the Yacht Club Games crew goes with this new look and franchise.
