The Battle Pass updates are already arriving

After the surprise launch ofĀ Halo InfiniteĀ multiplayer earlier this week, players rushed onto the servers. Only, they soon found that their progression inĀ Halo InfiniteĀ wasn’t really going ahead at a steady rate.

343 Industries acknowledged this pretty fast, and just as quick, they’ve already released the first updates toĀ Halo InfiniteĀ progression. And after spending a little time with it last night and speaking to others, it’s a conflicting result for me.

A “Play 1 Game” Daily Challenge has been implemented for 50 XP, letting you get some experience regardless of results. And the doubling of 2XP Boosts is nice, as it makes those 30 minutes feel less like a struggle to maximize winnings. Big Team Battle shouldn’t be stressful, y’know?

Alongside the “first match of the day” bonus, and in exchange for challenge rewards swapping around a bit, the week’s current Ultimate Rewardā€”the Sigil Mark VII Visorā€”will be given away for free to everyone who logs in between Nov. 23 and 30.

So, it’s a start. In my own experience, it felt like I was moving forward a little faster, or at least seeing the bar tick up a bit more often. As for the actual math? Users on forums like ResetEra are putting it together and well, the numbers are a little iffy.

The trickiest part of all of this is that the first season ofĀ Halo InfiniteĀ is running until May 2022. While quick progression is good, I do also wonder how much of a consideration is being put into having an extra-long first season compared to their goal of seasons running for three months.

It’s a start, at least, and a sign that 343 Industries is paying attention. The nice part is thatĀ Halo InfiniteĀ multiplayer is really, really fun to play. So even if I’m not raking in new cosmetics with each match, I’m honestly just keen to keep playing matches ofĀ Halo Infinite, whether the progression feels off or not.
