Jungle Fury
Good morning, friends, and welcome to this week’s Whatcha Been Playing? It’s been a pretty hectic week for me, maybe it has for you. But however the week has gone, today is Saturday, and however you’re choosing to spend it I hope that you have a good and happy one. Thanks a ton for checking in! I finally got around to watching the latest, (and in Craig’s case, last), 007 epic No Time To Die. It wasn’t awesome, but it was pretty good. There was a lot to like in the movie and the women leads were universally excellent, each bringing a different dynamic to battle. I will surely miss Daniel Craig in future installments. The tone of his arc may be muddled, but he was a magnificent James Bond.
With the Game of the Year festivities looming, I really need to find the time to nail down my own personal finalists. There’s so little time though, especially when you have work, real-life, and your own interests hanging over you. This week, (in between some 2021 replays) I’ve been bouncing around between some classic arcade shmups, as well as the charming Peruvian brawler Tunche. The latter is a particularly interesting and visually splendid release, as well as being another 2021 title that lovingly embraces the culture and artistry of its country of origin. Please keep an eye out for my full thoughts on this jungle-based scrapper, which should be published at the start of the coming week.
But that’s more than enough outta me. Let’s hear the good word from all of you. Before you get started on what I hope to be a lovely weekend, take a moment to jump into the comments and let us know what games you’re hitting right now. With the end of the year approaching, maybe you’re playing catchup on some GOTY contenders. Maybe you’re immune to the FOMO, and you’re just playing whatever you want. And, just maybe, Whatcha Been Playing are simply the tried-and-tested classics that you’ve run and re-run ad infinitum. Whatever is spinning up your drives, friend, share it with us!
Have a wonderful weekend, from all of us at Destructoid.
