Luminous Avenger

Inti Creates’ newest game is Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2

Luminous Avenger is getting a sequel, which is already a spinoff of the Gunvolt series. I'm glad Inti Creates is keeping this thing alive!

A sequel to Luminous Avenger

I’m shocked that Inti Creates is able to keep theĀ Gunvolt series running this long: in a good way! They’re at the point where they’re doing spinoffs upon spinoffs, and now one of those is getting a sequel! Announced today at Bitsummit, Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2Ā is coming in 2022.

Itself a follow-up to 2019’s Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX, Copen returns as the hero once again, but will sport new tricks to take on enemies. One of the new gimmicks is the “razor wheel,” a weapon Copen is donning to “traverse an enormous tower” as part of the new narrative. After beating a boss he can gobble up new weapons, following in the sameĀ Mega Man style as some past entries.

Inti Creates specifically tells us that his dash power has been “powered up” in Luminous Avenger iX 2, allowing for more technical maneuvers, including air dashes that sport quicker movement overall. Your companion Lola will also return, who has enhanced healing capabilities and will continue to bring you back from the dead.

So here’s the full info dump from Inti Creates. Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2 is due out on January 27, 2022, priced at $24.99. It’ll be available on PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Yes! No exclusives here, it’s on basically everything; though a physical release is still “TBD” according to the studio.
