Was I excited about Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse before this announcement? Why yes, yes I was. To call my feelings about this game obsession would be putting it mildly. To say that I had nearly wet my pants with skin-crawling terror over some of the scenes in this series would be a more accurate description. Since I like that kind of thing, however, it puts this title high on my must-have list.
Not only is Tecmo’s director Makoto Shibata working on the upcoming Wii title, but it’s been revealed that Suda 51 (Goichi Suda) of No More Heroes fame will be working on the title as well. My hopes just went from high to astronomical — Suda’s input on the series could possibly take something great and make it even better. One more piece of good news and I’m going to throw my clothes out the window and start streaking down the sidewalk.
Japan has a confirmed release date of July 31st for the game, so let’s hope we see the US version very soon. No details are clear yet about how or if waggle may play into the controls, but I have to say if I was to do it to shake a ghost off of me … well, I might truly enjoy waggling the Wiimote for the first time since Super Mario Galaxy.
