‘This is not my victory. This is your victory’
Steven Spohn, COO for The AbleGamers Foundation, has announced that his “Spawn Together” charity drive has successfully smashed its target of raising $1 million USD in a single year.
Initially launched in September 2020, Spohn hoped that the Spawn Together campaign would hit the one million dollar mark by September 15, 2021 ā Spohn’s 40th birthday. With just under a month to go, and thanks to the generosity and hard work of over 250 streamers ā as well as a huge army of supporters ā this goal was finally achieved on August 16.
Spohn released a video to speak of his pride and gratitude.
“Thank you to everyone who donated a dollar, or 10 dollars, or a thousand, or 10 thousand, thank you for your part in this,” said Spohn on Twitter. “If you didn’t donate a dollar but you just shared, or liked, or retweeted, thank you for being a part of this. This is not my victory. This is your victory. You are the ones who raised the million dollars. I was just lucky enough to be the leader of this amazing Spawn Together group.”
Spohn’s modesty reflects the personality of a man who has dedicated so much of his time, energy, and work ethic to numerous charitable and philanthropic endeavors, rightfully earning him the Champion of Change honors at 2020’s Game Awards ceremony. The money raised by Spawn Together will go to The AbleGamers Foundation, to be used in the non-profit organization’s tireless and dedicated efforts to improving video game experience for disabled people ā whether it be through the research and distribution of gaming peripherals, the organization of workshops and scholarships, or the foundation’s work with development studios to improve accessibility options in modern gaming.
Congratulations to Steven Spohn, the AbleGamers Foundation, and all those involved in making Spawn Together a success. For more information about the important work being done at AbleGamers, visit the official website.
