With a mere two weeks to go before the launch of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, developer Capcom has released the new adventure’s gorgeous intro, offering a serene glimpse at the emotional core of the anticipated sequel.

The near-seven-minute intro concerns a young Wyverian girl, Ena, who has been entrusted with the protection of a Rathalos egg. The player will take up the role of a young rider-in-training, the descendant of one of their tribe’s most fabled and legendary heroes, Red. As you can see from the Monster Hunter Stories 2 intro, our young protagonists will be forced to adapt to their respective fates quickly, after a terrible incident forces the rising of the Rathalos flock. It’s a brilliant sequence, filled with music, wonder, and danger — with the perfect blend of excitement and intrigue to spark off MHS 2‘s epic quest.

If you’re still on the fence, then you’re in luck, as a trial edition of Monster Hunter Stories 2 will go live on Switch tomorrow, June 25, which will offer you the chance to check out the new title ahead of its official release. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will launch on Nintendo Switch and PC July 9. Pre-order customers will bag an exclusive Kamura Maiden outfit for Ena. A trio of cute amiibo will also be available exclusively at Gamestop.
