It may seem like Hello Games’ attention has been solely on No Man’s Sky for the last few years. After a tumultuous launch, No Man’s Sky has finally found favor among those who still pay attention to it, thanks largely to a series of free updates that have completely transformed the game. However, Hello Games has been working on something else too, and it has been mostly under the radar this whole time.

First revealed at The Game Awards in 2018, The Last Campfire is Hello Games’ new light adventure title. It looks like a cutesy whimsical puzzle game with the sort of indie charm we’re used to, but the emotive way everything moves in the trailer might lead you to believe The Last Campfire has some gut punches up its sleeve. The Steam page describes it as “an adventure, a story of a lost ember trapped in a puzzling place, searching for meaning and a way home.”

If this is the first you remember hearing of The Last Campfire, don’t feel bad. Apart from that Game Awards announcement, Hello Games hasn’t mentioned it at all. This second showing is in recognition of the game’s release window. It’s soon! The Last Campfire is coming to PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One this summer. We’re only in the dark a little longer.
