Finally ready to roll?
The much-beleaguered Uncharted movie project continues to inch its way towards fruition. Recent reports suggest that Sony has bagged a new director for the project – the seventh to take on the adaptation – and that the movie will finally commence shooting in around four weeks’ time.
Following on from Dan Trachtenberg, Shawn Levy, Travis Knight, and numerous other lensmen, new rumours point to Venom‘s Ruben Fleischer as being the new name to step into the directorial hot seat. Actors Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg have long since signed on to the project, but numerous issues – mostly involving schedule conflict – have repeatedly delayed the film’s shooting schedule.
Spider-Man star Holland still seems enthusiastic about the movie. “We start shooting in like four weeks,” Holland told IGN. “Mark Wahlberg is going to be amazing as Sully, the stunt department that we have out there in Berlin have done an amazing job already prepping the stunts, and it’s gonna be an exciting one… It’s a pretty awesome movie, and it’s global, we travel the world. We see some amazing places.”
Uncharted is scheduled to release in theatres on March 5, 2021.
