Picross: Lord of the Nazarick hits Nintendo Switch soon

Picross and Overlord are an unlikely combination, but clearly Jupiter’s puzzle-building obsession knows no bounds. The developer just announced Picross: Lord of the Nazarick, a Nintendo Switch game adaptation of Kugane Maruyama’s Overlord series of light novels, which has also spawned a manga and anime. If this seems like something you’re liable to impulse buy, good news it’s out July 25.

At its most basic, Overlord is a futuristic story about an MMO named Yggdrasil that was supposed to go offline but mysteriously didn’t. NPCs have become sentient, and life has somehow carried on. Abandoned by his former video game guildmates, protagonist Ainz Ooal Gown is trapped, unable to rejoin the real world. Also, he’s a badass skeleton. That’s what I’m really here for, if I’m being honest.

Picross: Lord of the Nazarick revolves around Ainz and his nine followers, with 519 images to painstakingly suss out across different game modes like Picross, Color Picross, and Clip Picross.

Picross isn’t usually my thing, and I’m woefully unfamiliar with Overlord, but this seems neat.
