According to The Daily Mail, the above image is Al Qaedaā€™s ā€œterrifying vision of a devastated America.ā€ It was apparently posted on an Islamic extremistsā€™ Web site but nobody in the mainstream press has actually twigged that itā€™s videogame concept art from Fallout 3.

Believing them to be ā€œcomputer-generated images,ā€ this supposed terroristsā€™ wet dream has also hit an Australian news site. The Daily Mail, otherwise known as Britainā€™s favorite toilet paper, takes the prize though for this hilarious piece of writing:

U.S. analysts said a lot of effort had been put into the video ā€“ entitled Nuclear Jihad, The Ultimate Terror ā€“ with graphics, music, and clips of different leaders and groups.

The same expertise seems to have gone into creating this image of a devastated Washington.

Confirmed ā€” Bethesda uses terrorist expertise in the creation of its artwork? Since The Mail has a long-running vendetta against videogames, Iā€™m somewhat surprised they didnā€™t find out where the image came from ā€” Videogames Cause Terrorism seems like a story thatā€™s right up their alley. Gotta love journalists.
