In the wake of (and preceding) big-screen blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War earlier this year, plenty of momentous events and occasions were proclaimed “The biggest crossover of the year”. But all these arguments can be put to rest now, we have a definite winner.

Promoting an upcoming exhibition of painter Edvard Munch, to be held over the Winter at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Nintendo has released a set of limited edition Pokemon cards, depicting the brand’s famous characters starring in Munch’s best-known work: 1893’s The Scream.

In the set of five cards, Pikachu, Eevee, Psyduck, and Rowlet recreate the famous pose from Munch’s abstract and haunting painting. Amusingly, Mimikyu also turns up, looking like he has always been part of the masterwork since it was first conceived. You can check out the bizarre cards in the gallery below.

The Munch Exhibition is at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum from October 27 until January 20.
