Maybe she could have helped to find a less cliched song choice

Like a TARDIS after a fiery regeneration sequence, a new age of Doctor Who is crashing down towards us at a breakneck pace. With a new Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) and a new TARDIS crew (Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, and Mandip Gill), this latest trailer (the previous one being here) for the long-running British sci-fi tells us that the show is now different—though, also pretty much the same.

The Doctor leads her companions through new locales, including what appears to be a desert world, some sort of war zone, and what kinda looks like J.J. Abrams’ rendition of the USS Enterprise. You bet there’s going to be some running around corridors here. This Doctor may be new, but Whittaker’s take on the character is still as empathetic and resourceful as we know the Doctor to be.

It’s also worth mentioning that the show looks nice. We’ve come a long way from the sci-fi cheese of yore, and although the letterboxing of the trailer is a silly way to attempt to look “cinematic,” everything from the costume design, lighting, sets, and props look colorful and modern. I only wish the trailer had a different song, as if I didn’t already have that shit stuck in my head before this.

The eleventh series/season of the revived Doctor Who will be ten episodes long, the first airing on October 7.
