With an open beta to start

Rockstar hasn’t had much to say about Red Dead Online yet, but given the way Grand Theft Auto V has continued to dominate with its ever-changing online component, it doesn’t take much imagination to picture what shape Red Dead Redemption 2 will take. We’ll find out for sure in November.

Red Dead Online, “an evolution of the classic multiplayer experience in the original Red Dead Redemption, blending narrative with competitive and cooperative gameplay in fun new ways,” will launch with a public beta. It’ll be playable alone or with pals, and the studio is unsurprisingly committing itself “to constant updates and adjustments to grow and evolve this experience for all players.”

It probably goes without saying, but Red Dead Online access is free with Red Dead Redemption 2. The developer expects “some turbulence at launch” and says more details are on the way soon.
