Attention ’80s kids: Enter our contest for a Blu-ray copy of Arrow Video’s Scared Stiff!

I probably don’t need to tell you why I love ’80s horror, but I will anyway — long story short, it’s the practical effects. Computer-generated stuff is cool and all, and provides a way to make things look really, really cool, but man there’s nothing like good old-fashioned prosthetics and makeup. It makes effects look somehow realer than a computer ever could.

That’s why I’m excited to give out 1987’s Scared Stiff!

It’s an ’80s horror movie, so there’s not much by way of plot. A mother, her son, and her boyfriend move into a really old home. But oh shit! It’s haunted! Or something. I don’t know, lil homie discovers a talisman or something in the basement and then all hell breaks loose. Does it really need to get any more descriptive than that? There’s lots of gore and makeup and weird creatures and tribal dancing (?), so pretty much you’re either into this sort of thing — like me — or you’re waiting for me to give away a VHS of The English Patient.

And I am not doing that again.

To enter to win, comment below by typing something totally random. If you’re on a smartphone, type in the words, “I want a,” and autofill a sentence using the first recommended word. It’s always a fun little exercise!

We have two Blu-rays to give away. Winners will be drawn on Tuesday, April 7. Make sure to comment using a Dtoid account with your current email address on file. New users can sign up here to get in on the RNG fun!

Scared Stiff is available now from our friends at MVD Entertainment. Head over to Flixist for more chances to win!
