Rockstar Games has a knack for breaking all kinds of records with its titles. Both Grand Theft Auto IV and V set records in their day and now the recently released Red Dead Redemption 2 is following suit. While not eclipsing the same three-day sales record as GTA V (which launched on a Tuesday), RDR 2 has become the biggest opening weekend ever in all of entertainment. The game managed to sell around $725 million worldwide, which is insanely impressive.

Put another way, Red Dead Redemption 2 is the biggest entertainment launch of 2018 (and will likely continue that steam into the holiday). It was also the most pre-ordered full game in the history of the PlayStation Network, now holds the biggest day one sales record on PSN and also claimed the biggest three-day full game sales stat on PSN.

This is even before considering that Red Dead Online will be coming next month. Who knows how well RDR 2 will clean up during Christmas when everyone has more time to play it? I guess the eight years between releases hyped people up a bit.
