New York Giants wideout Odell Beckham Jr. was in Dreamland yesterday, and it’s not just because he wore a pair of Kirby-emblazoned cleats. The talented “distraction” sucked up almost everything thrown his way to the tune of 8 catches for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Here’s what his kicks looked like:

This is fun, which is antithetical to the NFL’s objection to its players having fun or being creative or showing personality. Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Antonio Brown (and best receiver on the planet) is feeling the league’s smothering stodginess as he’s routinely shut down in his quest to wear cool cleats. Last week, the refs threatened to eject him if he didn’t switch out of his custom Muhammad Ali shoes.

It’s not just Brown who’s being reprimanded for going against the NFL’s uniform policy. Houston Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins was fined $6,000 earlier this year for sporting some Kanye kicks. Beckham can probably expect something similar in the coming days. The NFL has a lot of problems; its players wearing cool shoes isn’t one of them.
