Koei’s new strategy game hits PS4 and PC in July
Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII is coming west in July, Koei Tecmo has announced.
The strategy game will be the first entry in the series to be localized for western audiences in eight years, the last being Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI for PlayStation 2 in 2007 and PC in 2008.
Based on Luo Guanzhong’s historical novel of the same name, Romance of the Three Kingdoms allows players to take on the role of more than 700 historical figures during the fall of ancient China’s Han dynasty, the ensuing civil war, and subsequent reunification period.
The franchise, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, also gave rise to the Dynasty Warriors series, where Koei Tecmo explores the same conflict from a closer, more arcadey perspective.
The title will be released across North America on July 5 and Europe on July 8 for PS4 and PC.
Last fall, Koei Tecmo released the similar Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence, which is set in Japan’s Sengoku period, for PS4, PC, and PS3. You find our review of the game right here.
