Skywind is a full-conversion mod that aims to recreate the much-loved Morrowind and all of its content in the newer, shinier Skyrim engine. It’s been in development since what feels like the dawn of time, but things are shaping up pretty nicely in this update video.
In it, you can see how the Bitter Coast, West Gash, Sheogorad, Ascadian Isles, Ald Veloth, and Gnaar Mok areas are looking, as well as the new shipwrecks, caves, imperial forts and Dwemer ruins. For a fan project, it all looks ridiculously polished, so I’m excited to see what the finished thing is like!
This project has been around for so long, and it’s gotten so much attention, that it looks like unless Bethesda has a major change of heart, it’s not planning on shutting this down.
Here’s hoping we get Skywind before The Elder Scrolls VI comes out! If you want to help speed it up, they’re always looking for volunteers to chip in. You can find out more information on the Skywind website.
