King of Fighers XIV may look ugly, but the mechanics seem fine so far

No more beautiful pixel art

We don’t have a whole lot of information regarding King of Fighters XIV, outside of the fact that it has a severely downgraded set of visuals, but based on this comparison video (with XIII), it seems mechanically sound.

There is one last glimmer of hope yet for the aforementioned undesirable art style, though. According to a rumor, SNK is reworking the game’s aesthetics and will unveil the new look sometime in December. We’ll see if that actually comes to fruition, but in the meantime, King of Fighters XIV seems like it plays well.
