Love it or hate it, Scott Cawthon’s Five Nights at Freddy’s series has been a huge success, and now we know when the fourth game in series is coming.

Thanks to an email sent to YouTuber Dawko by Cawthon and posted on reddit, we now know Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 will be released on the one-year anniversary of the first game’s release, August 8.

That’s not all though, as Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 will also be the first game in the series to get an expansion. A free update with more content will be coming to the game on October 31.

The email sent to Dawko reads:

“Ok, here is some news for you, and you’re welcome to make a youtube video to announce it if you want!

I’m going to release Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 on August 8th for the 1 year anniversary of Five Nights at Freddy’s. To keep the Halloween date special however, I’ll be working on a free update with extra content to release on October 31st. I also plan on having a trailer ready for next weekend!”

I think for a series built by one person, there are worse games to get angry at than Five Nights at Freddy’s. In just a year the creator has managed to make four games with different gameplay, an interesting backstory and kept his audience actively engaged with the brand.

I’m more than happy to see where the series can go, so consider me excited for Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, even if I know I’m too much of a wuss to actually play it.
