And ‘VS CPU’ mode is coming after that

Capcom has let us in on its plans for a pair of upcoming Street Fighter V updates, one arriving in August, the other sometime in September. Despite attempts at addressing the rage-quitter problem, quitters are still quitting and wasting folks’ time. There’s undeniably more work to be done.

After a period of server maintenance on August 16 from 1:00pm Pacific to 7:00pm Pacific, the first of the two updates will be live. From that point on, players who leave a match early will lose League Points and find themselves unable to access online matching “for a set time.”

“Since the initial Rage Quitting system rollout, we have seen a rapid decrease in rage quitting players, and we believe that this new update will reduce that number even further,” wrote Capcom. “That being said, we’re still working on implementing a new, more robust system that will address the issue more completely by early next year.”

The September-bound update contains a bunch of miscellaneous things like the sorely-missed “VS CPU” option. What else?

  • Daily challenges to earn Fight Money.
  • Fighter Profile updates.
  • Season Pass holders are getting free costume colors (“Colors 3-10 for Default and Battle costumes of the 6 DLC characters”).
  • Premium costumes will include colors (“Colors 3-10 of the purchased premium costume”).
  • “All 22 Characters’ Default & Story Costumes Color Pack 3-10” can be bought with Fight Money or real-world currency.
  • Other stuff TBA.

And because you can never have enough dang Fight Money, try to be around for some Street Fighter V ranked matches during the weekend of September 2 – 4. Double earnings!

Capcom’s announcement didn’t mention when peak business man Urien might join the game, but I’ll go ahead and share this most excellent video again anyway. Good ol’ LI Joe.
