PokeAdvisor is no more
Niantic has blocked another site allowing players to track info for Pokémon Go. The owner of PokeAdvisor, a site that lets you view the IV (hidden stats that can’t be seen in-game) of your critters, has been blocked from connecting to Niantic’s servers thus preventing the site from working.
For the uninformed, IV is something that mostly only competitive Pokémon players know about, as it decides all parts of the max stats a monster can obtain. In most of the core series, IVs can be figured out by talking to a specific NPC that will say different lines of dialogue depending on the overall IV of the Pokémon.
Fans have figured out algorithms for the core series to figure out exactly what IVs your pocket monster has, but thus far it hasn’t been so simple for the mobile phenomenon, as it requires seeing how your stats change as you level your creature which can be done easily with Poké Assistant’s calculator.
I’m not at all surprised that Niantic would stick to its guns and block services that are hitting its network, especially things that give you an upper hand (read: cheat) that players just playing the game normally don’t have access to like seeing exactly where Pokémon spawn, or what their hidden stats are.
Niantic isn’t the only company that isn’t okay with it as Twitch has also banned streamers from cheating on streams stating anything that “violates third-party terms of service or other user agreements is a violation of our own Terms of Service” while quoting Niantic’s own guidelines:
“…using modified or unofficial software; playing with multiple accounts (one account per player, please); sharing accounts; using tools or techniques to alter or falsify your location; or selling/trading accounts.”
Niantic has seemingly blocked Pokemon Go aid PokeAdvisor [VG 24/7] [Thanks Josiah!]
