Yep, retailer-specific pre-order bonuses
Overwatch is launching in less than five days. In fact, it’ll go live as early as 4:00pm Pacific on Monday next week. Because of the nature of the publisher, you won’t be seeing any major pre-order discounts, although hardcore fans of the game will most likely swear that the full list price is well worth it. Having said that, we’ve sleuthed through all the available Overwatch deals because there are actually some differences in pre-order bonuses, depending on your retailer of choice.
In recent times, most publishers have forgone retailer-specific pre-order bonuses, but not Activision Blizzard, no sir! As of writing, you will actually receive two different physical goodies depending on if you choose GameStop or Best Buy.
Update: We should clarify that the versions listed below are retail copies for $60. The standard PC digital edition with no frills at Battle.net is $40. The previous 27% off deal for the CE is now expired. Origins Edition still discounted by 18% off. Great deal without needing to use a membership service.
Overwatch Origins Pre-Order Deals

New deal from Walmart, Amazon also price matching (but sold out on PC)
- Walmart for PS4 (Xbox One or PC DVD) — $48.99 (list price $59.99)
Free shipping as it’s a pre-order, or store pick-up on May 23
- Best Buy (PC, Xbox One, PS4) — $59.99 ($47.99 with GCU)
Pre-Order Bonus: $10 Rewards + Metal Art Plate + May 23 pick-up
Overwatch Pre-Order Bonuses
You will essentially receive the same game no matter where you buy, but you will have a different pre-order physical bonus if you decide to grab from either GameStop or Best Buy. Pictured above is the mini baby Winston figurine (left) from GameStop, and on the right the Overwatch metal art plate from Best Buy (actual size unknown). Both of these are pretty neat (seriously) and if we had to pick one, we’d go with GameStop’s figurine. On the other hand, Best Buy is also offering its $10 rewards certificate if you pre-order, so your call on the value.
In terms of cosmetic pre-order bonuses, all pre-order copies, aka the Overwatch: Origins Edition, will include the Noire Widowmaker skin (black and red themed). A bunch of other digital goodies (pictured above) are also available, which are detailed here at the official Overwatch edition breakdown page.
Collector’s Edition
Finally, if you’re planning to pick up the heavy duty $130 Collector’s Edition, you probably should just go ahead and grab the copy from Best Buy. Why? Essentially, Best Buy allows you to add a $30 Gamer’s Club Unlock membership to your cart whenever you purchase a pricey item. This lets you immediately knock 20 percent off the $130 Collector’s Edition — giving you access to GCU for two years for essentially $4. Not a bad deal if you don’t already have GCU and are planning to pick up the Collector’s Edition.
All in all, we don’t expect to see any major discounts on Overwatch anytime soon, given Activision Blizzard isn’t exactly the type of publisher that goes crazy on sales. If you want a discount, check back the end of this year during holiday season and you’ll probably see some retailer-specific price cuts.
