Remember all the funny injuries and one unfortunate death that the Wii caused? Ten years later, everyone has an HD camera in their pocket to record the next wave of game-based injuries, only this time, it’s in virtual reality. Some might call this a serious issue, but I’d say it is a hilarious opportunity.

While the Oculus Rift is currently more for sitting experiences, the HTC Vive tracks its controllers as well as players’ movements throughout their room. Who would have guessed that people walking around with a headset over their eyes while wildly waving heavy controllers would lead to humorous injuries?

People seem to react realistically when playing the stealth-action game Budget Cuts, where you’re tasked with sneaking around killer robots. Redditor danielbln’s friend was clearly making a break for it before getting reality checked by that wall. Danielbln reported that his friend shook it off, noting, “she needed a short break, but no worries, the Vive is ok!” Yes, we were all concerned for your Vive. Glad to know it’s fine.

I’ve spared you all the extreme closeup of someone’s bloody foot from kicking their computer while playing Budget Cuts unless, of course, you want to click here to see it.

Speaking of people making it seem like they don’t care about injured people, this guy continues to play in VR while his friend is carted off by paramedics, which thankfully is all caught on film. Apparently the girl fell and sustained a knee injury while playing the demo for the upcoming horror game The Brookhaven Experiment. I’m not sure if this is a good advertisement for the game or a great one.

It isn’t just normal consumers getting hurt while in virtual reality, but also developers, as seen above.

Do you hate kids? Don’t you worry, because we have some children getting injured too! This dad strapped his $900 device to his three-year-old’s face and let him loose in Minecraft; the results are what you’d expect, though the kid takes the bump like a champ.
You might have seen the above mishap by now, but if not, this child attempts to lean on a virtual desk that obviously doesn’t exist in the real world and falls. Comedy gold.

Even the workplace isn’t safe from the violence, as a boss gets whacked in the back of the head by an employee on “accident.” Sure, I’ll buy it, she totally didn’t mean to hit. Wink wink, nudge nudge.

This video combines three of my favorite things: Dinosaurs, VR, and people getting injured. Watch as this person tries to dodge a T. rex and gets checked by a wall instead.

Virtual reality isn’t even widely available yet, with the Oculus Rift just launching at Amazon, Microsoft, and Best Buy stores this week, and already the accidents are numerous and hilarious. I look forward to America’s Funniest Home Videos just being VR injuries in the near future.
